Glasses

If you haven't already heard Jonathan needs glasses. On Friday we took him for his 6 month follow up to the eye doctor and it was determined that since February his eyes have not improved. He is farsighted and favors his right eye thus causing it be lazy and/or crossed. We got our prescription for glasses (+3.50) and will return in 4 weeks to see how he's doing. If things do not improve than we'll introduce a patch to be worn over the strong eye thus forcing him to use his right eye more, strengthening it. If glasses and a patch does not work then perhaps we'll have to look at corrective surgery. Surgery is the last resort but a possibility.

Initially I swelled up with tears and wanted to cry for the little man. I felt as if I was the one to pass this along to Jonathan because I myself went through the same experience (glasses, patch, surgery) at about 3 years old (surgery at 6 years). It's not the end of the world and honestly it didn't take me long to get over myself. Jonathan has a difficult time seeing, it's nothing that can't and won't be corrected appropriately. It will take time but eventually he'll outgrow this. In the mean time we'll enjoy his cute little face with glasses!

We made a purchase tonight and will be picking up the new glasses tomorrow afternoon. Be sure to check back for a sneak peak of his new accessory!! They are so cute, expensive, but adorable!!!
