It does appear as if our minor crying spell resulted in a positive finish. Last night Jonathan asked about his binkies as we were headed to bed and that was it. No whining, no crying, no melt downs. He was perfectly ok without them. Thank goodness because I wasn't sure I was going to be able to handle the drama. I must admit, we feel very blessed with Jonathan. All and all he is an easy child. Normal meltdowns and tantrums but such a good boy over all!
As for the potty, we're continuing to make progress. He goes 2-3 times a day and otherwise still has his diaper. We have not bought a train in 3 days now and are contemplating whether or not we will continue this reward. He's content right now with the praise saying "Mommy/Daddy I go potty! You so happy!!" Stickers and lollipops are always a treat as well, just not the driving force. I started a sticker chart today so he can physically see his progress. Hopefully he keeps up the good work.
With both the binky and potty I am a bit worried when the little one comes along as to whether or not he will revert backwards. Only time will tell I suppose. No need to worry now.
I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised at how little he regresses when the baby arrives. He'll be a proud big brother. Just keep him as engaged as he wants to be as a helper and things will go smoothly. I say with his progress throw the incentive of cool underwear in. He might be ready for it.
