Sick Babe

It was bound to happen. Thankfully we've been blessed with an easy going, laid back, healthy child. Josh and I are well aware of how lucky we truly are and thank God every day for these blessings. A week ago Friday Jonathan turned 15 months and up until this point we have had minimal amounts of sickness. Hospitalization for jaundice when he was a week old, the flu at 12 weeks, the mysterious skin rash at 11 months, minor colds and a few teething issues is all we've really seen. Now there's another chapter to the story. All 2 of the 3 kiddos at daycare have contracted RSV, a lower respiratory infection which can be a serious issue for kiddos under the age of 2. He started with his symptoms on Saturday and they've slowly been affecting him. Monday he stayed home thanks to the snow day, Tuesday he went to daycare but had a faucet for a nose, and yesterday he stayed home from daycare because of his deep cough, runny nose, watery eyes...he looked miserable. Today he started at daycare but he's since gone home. He looks like he's feeling better, he's eating more at least, but his nose is still running, his cough is still deep, and now he rattles when he breathes. Almost sounds like a popcorn popper. He has a 3:30 pm doctors appointment so hopefully they say "it's viral, there's nothing you can do, just treat the symptoms" and we'll go from there. Even if it is RSV he's not bad enough that he'd need hospitalization, but sometimes RSV can lead to pneumonia or bronchitis so that's the catch. We'll see what the doctor has to say about Jonathan and go from there.
