Finally feeling better I can begin to blog again. Seems as if my "steering clear" of the 24-hour flu bug didn't work out as well as I had hoped it would. Being out of work on Tuesday was less than ideal but thankfully the week came to an end and it's now February vacation. The week ahead is packed with appointments, some work (please don't lecture, it's necessary), and the ever so obvious VACATION!! Josh and I are fortunate enough to have wonderful parents who are both going to watch Jonathan for a few days so we can escape to a cabin in Greenville for a few nights. Before that happens Jonathan has his second hearing evaluation and then speech. Fingers crossed for a positive hearing eval yet at the same time having no improvements would explain so much.
On the subject of appointments and evaluations if anyone has suggestions on soothing/origin of coughs in young children we'd love to hear them. Jonathan's had a cough for the past 6+ weeks that he just can't kick. It seems as if we've tried everything (benadryl, humidifier, vick's vapor rub, nebulizers, decreasing milk intake) and thus far no dice. Last night I hit the wall of no return. Jonathan was up every 1-2 hours coughing and having trouble breathing. Each attack would last roughly 25 minutes. With each cough I became more and more exhausted for him. Not to mention they lasted throughout the day as well. I'm hoping our PCP is open tomorrow so Josh can accompany me to an appointment. We've both been pretty passive and allowed to see how things play out over time but enough is enough. There has to be something that we can attribute this cough to and determine an effective plan of action. For tonight we're trying a different bedroom to see if maybe there's something in Jonathan's room that is causing this reaction. At this point we're desperate for answers.
Did I mention I'm on February Vacation?! :) WOO HOO
could be croup or rsv. ask if he can take some delysum and how much. Good luck!
